Candidate Requirements
In 2008, candidates in Ohio will run for federal, district and county offices. This guide has been compiled to provide candidates with the basic information necessary to file for office. This is only a brief summary and should not be regarded as a complete digest of laws affecting candidates, nor should it be regarded as legally binding. Candidates are responsible for completing and filing a valid petition for the office sought, as well as knowing the provisions of law pertaining to their candidacies that are summarized in this guide. Furthermore, legislative or judicial action can change the requirements summarized in this guide at any time.
For further information, please contact the Ohio secretary of state’s Elections Division at (614) 466-2585 or your county board of elections.
